Elderly Woman, 90, DRAGGED BY CAR While Holding Onto Purse During Drive-By Robbery

Just outside an Osceola County supermarket a 90-year-old woman was dragged by Jose Luis Delgado-Pastrana from a vehicle and suffered from several broken bones and road rash while her purse was being snatched. 

Delgado-Pastrana asked the woman for money, when she told him that she did not have any he grabbed her purse from her shoulder and began to drive away, dragging her about 15 feet.

U.S. tourists kill mugger, Costa Rica says

SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA — A tour group of U.S. senior citizens killed a Costa Rican mugger by breaking his neck after he pulled a gun, a local police official said Thursday.

The cruise ship passengers told police they jumped on Wagner Segura, 20, to defend themselves when he pointed a .38-caliber revolver at them Wednesday near the Caribbean port of Limon, regional police director Luis Hernandez said.

One of the dozen tourists, a retired Marine about 70 years old, reportedly put Segura in a headlock.

"He was probably the one who broke [Segura's] neck," Hernandez said. "His neck was completely snapped."

The cause of death was not clear. A statement from Carnival Cruise Lines said the assailant had apparently died of asphyxiation, and some reports identified the broken bone as the clavicle, not the neck.

No charges will be filed against the tourists because police viewed the incident as an act of self-defense.

101-yr-old Homeless Lady helped by generous donations

This is exactly what I need, too, but the angels are few and far between. I actually CAN afford the monthly payments on the house where I have lived since I was 17 years old and where I was my mother's sole caregiver for 30 years but my Disability income was not enough to pay property taxes so I am also going to be homeless. 


It will kill me. I use life support and there's no place to plug that in when you lay down on a sidewalk to go to sleep at night.


I am crippled with arthritis and heart failure and COPD and diabetes but I'm going to be taking that act to the street when I lose my mother's home.


I know EXACTLY how this lady feels. And I have no one helping me at the moment.

Just an observation...

Just an observation (from my real life)... you know you're getting old when complete strangers come up to you in the grocery store and ask if you are all right or if you need help with anything and they don't even work there. I really, really do understand that people are being kind however, I walked into that store feeling pretty good and after seeing how perfect strangers are so concerned about me, it makes me think I must look like I'm about to drop dead. Then I don't feel so good.

Anybody else ever been treated like a "little old lady" when your mind wasn't even in that mindset?
